I still stand that the only truly 'sustainable' city in the US is Chicago because of its natural power supply. No other city has enough flowing river power to provide the electricity and waste disposal, and lake water to drink for eons.
I mean, they have a huge point. Water is probably the #1 resource that a city needs to control and have in excess to be sustainable.

While Chicago may have Arizona beat on the drinking water, Arizona has the Hoover Dam (there's your hydroelectric), an ideal location for solar (one of the ideal major sources for power in the future), and nuclear plant facilities. Likewise, I would rather endure the Arizona summers over the Illinois winters. I moved to the Chicagoland area (northern suburbs) back in January, and I will take the heat over that freezing debilitating cold any day. Not to mention the incredibly corrupt politics and very high crime rates of Chicago. Not to say Arizona is completely without those things, but it's certainly not as bad as here.
Also, mountains. Arizona has mountains, and mountains kick ass. They enable you to do awesome outdoor activities that you cannot do in states without mountains. Like taking your car on canyon runs. ;)
There are a lot of things I like about living in the Chicago area, but also a lot of things I miss about Arizona. haha

Oswego, NY. We have a river with hydroelectric plants. A nuclear powerplant, right on Lake Ontario. We also have tons of room for expansion because we're just a small college town. Oh and did I mention the harbor?

In case you missed the election results last night, Brewer is no longer governor. She was an idiot, and Arizona's new governor the guy who used to be the CEO of Cold Stone Creamery. Free ice cream for all! LOL
Years ago, Arpaio used to be good at his job. He is definitely an insane old racist crack pot now though. I don't find it likely that he will stay in office after the next race for Sheriff in 2016, especially now that Brewer is out of office.
If you want to talk corrupt politics, they aren't even near some of the worst.

He hasn't been elected governor yet. That was only the primary election.

Politicians are corrupt everywhere.
Arizona's particular brand of corrupt politicians disagrees with me more than other places' corrupt politicians.
